A trip to the Whanganui laundromat turned into an ordeal for a youngster who found himself stuck in a washing machine.
Firefighters were called to the Liquid Self Service Laundromat, on Alma Rd, just before 7 this evening.
A spokeswoman told us a boy aged about 6 or 7 had climbed into one of the machines and immediately got stuck because the door wouldn't open again.
The machine was not on at the time.
Firefighters had to break the door open to get him out safely ending an ordeal that lasted all of 10 minutes.
Laundromat staff say it will take a good deal longer to fix the damaged machine.
