UPDATED 4.52pm:

A woman who witnessed this morning's brawl at a college rugby match in south Auckland says it was like a scene from Game of Thrones.

Vaelua Noutata, who called police, was nearby when the brawl broke out and said it was disgusting.

"It was havoc...like a scene from Game of Thrones. It was wrong for the game as well, it killed the game.."

A 14-year-old boy is in hospital in a stable condition after being knocked out during a brawl involving spectators and players at a game between Otahuhu College and Tangaroa College.

Umbrellas used in fight

A witness has described the shocking scene he saw unfold as a brawl erupted at a high school rugby match in south Auckland this morning.

A fight broke out at the Otahuhu rugby ground involving spectators and players from Otahuhu College and Tangaroa College teams.

An Otahuhu player is in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital after being knocked out in the fight.

A spectator, Sei Alele Vaihu, was watching the game and said it all started with a shoulder charge during the game.

He said someone from the Otahuhu side went over, then students got involved and parents using umbrellas as weapons.

"Suddenly all you could see was students fighting and parents getting involved as well, hitting students with umbrellas. It was just really bizarre."
