A person was trapped and two others injured after a car went down a bank near Haast this morning.

Rescue services were sent to the scene between Pleasant Flat and Clarke Bluff just before 10am.

Two people were airlifted to Dunedin Hospital while another was flown to Queenstown Hospital.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Contractors are towing the car up the bank.

The road is expected to reopen shortly.
