Police and search and rescue volunteers are looking for a missing tramper in the Tararua Forest Park.

Austrian David Schopf became separated from his tramping party in the Otaki Forks area yesterday afternoon.

There are some concerns for his safety.

The 21-year-old has short blonde hair and was last seen wearing black pants, a blue windbreaker, brown hiking boots and a yellow and black beanie - he was carrying a large black and grey tramping pack.

Police want to hear from anyone who's seen him.
