UPDATED 9.38PM Police say no one has been found following a search of Brighton Beach in Dunedin this afternoon.

Dunedin Police and LandSAR teams searched the beach and Blackhead area after reports of a person seen entering the water yesterday morning .

The person was described as of short-medium height, wearing black or dark colored clothing and was reportedly seen walking into the water just before 10:30 on Friday morning.

Police have not yet received a missing person report which may relate to the event.

Police say they will act on fresh information, but have no plans to continue searching the coastline or sea.
