Firefighters are at a blaze in a pine forest area inland from Ashburton in Canterbury.
The Fire Service was alerted to the fire on Tanks Road near Mayfield shortly before 6pm, a spokesman says.
The fire covers about 400 square-metres of harvested pine plantation.
Crews with three fire engines and four water tankers are being used to fight the fire.
