A large amount of polystyrene has caught fire on a stretch of motorway being built in the Bay of Plenty.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze just after 8pm on the eastern arterial road being built between Papamoa and Tauranga.
Crews from four fire engines at the scene were expected to have the fire under control shortly.
It's unclear at this stage what the cause of the fire is.
The road was closed for a time but has since reopened.
