Wellington police are looking for two men following a serious assault on Courtenay Place.
The victim was walking with a friend past Readings Cinema at around four o'clock Sunday morning, when he was knocked to the ground by an unknown group of men.
Constable Oliver Crellin said the victim suffered a broken jaw and facial injuries which needed surgery.
Police have released images of two men caught on CCTV in the area at the time of the assault.
One is wearing a white t-shirt and a red bandana, and has a red jersey slung over his shoulders.
The other is wearing a black hoodie.
