Police are in attendance at a property in Avalon, Lower Hutt, where a man was stabbed shortly before 8 tonight.
The man is in a serious condition and has been taken to Wellington Hospital by helicopter.
Police believe the offender was known to the man.
A woman is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
