UPDATED 8.34AM: A police Serious Crash Unit is investigating a fatal accident in Tauranga early this morning.
Emergency services arrived at the scene on Te Puna Station Road at around 12:30am.
The Fire Service says one person was trapped.
Police say there were two cars involved, and a woman in her 40s died.
Another woman has been taken to hospital.
