A man in his 30s has been rescued from a near-drowning in Piha this afternoon, and emergency services are attending to what is reported to be another water rescue north of Auckland.
A St John spokesman said the ambulance service was alerted to the incident at Piha at 3.18pm.
"We sent the local first response unit and the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter which I understand is still on its way," he said.
"The incident is a male in his 30s who was injured in a near-drowning, he is in a serious condition."
A boy in his early teens has also been rescued after a near-drowning mishap near Wellsford this afternoon.
St John was alerted to the incident at 3.30pm and the Fire Service and a rescue helicopter were sent to the beach at Te Arai Point near Wellsford.
