There's still one fire crew at Kawau Island, north of Auckland, dealing with any hotspots or flare-ups.
Firefighters were sent to the popular holiday spot about 7.30 last night after the blaze was spotted at Vivian Bay, in the north of the island.
At least one bach was burnt down and other properties were evacuated.
Fire Service shift manager Scott Osmond said all the holiday-makers have been allowed back in.
He said most crews left just before midnight.
Osmond said a rural fire officer is on the way to the island now and will assess what sort of team they'll need to clear it up.
Further North, one household has spent the night out of their home because of a scrub fire.
The blaze broke out last night at Pipiwai and was four hundred square metres in size at its height.
Scott Osmond said the house was evacuated as a precaution and the residents remained out overnight.
He said a helicopter was stood down at 10 o'clock because it was too dark.
One crew's been there overnight watching for hotspots and dealing with any flare-ups.
A rural fire officer will be at the scene today to decide what resources are needed to deal with the remnants of the fire.
