The Red Cross has been deployed to help primary school students rescued from a camp in Auckland's Hunua Ranges.

Around 200 year five and six students from North Shore's Stanley Bay School had to leave Camp Adair in the middle of the night due to flooding.

Chair of the school's board Greg Balla said emergency services evacuated the group in the middle of the night, and they were situated at a nearby farm before buses arrived.

Head of emergency operations at Auckland Civil Defence Aaron Davis said they got in touch with the Red Cross because there were so many people involved.

He said the Red Cross have provided blankets and food, and ensured all needs are being met.

The students are all safe and accounted for, and are at a community centre at Hunua School.
