UPDATED: 3.36PM A house fire in the Wellington suburb of Strathmore Park is being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters are dampening down hot spots at the blaze at a house on Strathmore Avenue.

At its height of the blaze this afternoon, smoke was pouring from all four walls of the brick home, which is near Kahurangi School.

One person has minor injuries as a result of the blaze.

The Fire Service is investigating.

Emergency services were called to the fire around 1.15 this afternoon.

The road is closed at Kinghorne Street.
