UPDATED 10.28am: Part of Havelock North village was cordoned off this morning after a package containing powder was found at a  PostShop.

However, authorities at the scene confirmed the substance found was a non-hazardous cooking material.

Fire crews and police attended. 

A Hawke’s Bay Today reporter said a staff member was sorting through post when a packet containing white powder was found.

Emergency services cordoned off Napier Rd in Havelock North and fire fighters donned protective clothig before entering the shop.
