UPDATED 12.23PM: A man killed after hitting a truck in Whanganui this morning was being pursued by police.
The driver was trying to avoid road spikes and hit a large truck parked on Tayforth Road.
The car burst into flames and he was killed.
Earlier the driver hit a cyclist, who is now in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
