UPDATED 3.37pm A 56-year-old charged over a stabbing in Auckland City Hospital that left a man with serious injuries can now been named.
Homeless man Brian Steven Baldwin was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over the attack on yesterday afternoon.
Appearing in the Auckland District Court on today, he entered no pleas to the charges.
Judge Jonathan Moses declined his request for name suppression, saying he did not believe it would interfere with the ongoing police investigation.
Baldwin has been remanded in custody and will return to court on November 9.
Police say the victim remains in hospital in a serious condition, an improvement on last night when he was in a critical condition.
Despite his serious condition he is now now in stable.
