The Post Primary Teachers' Association says the move to keep the controversial Northland charter school open is purely political.
PPTA president Angela Roberts wants support given across all vulnerable schools, and thinks it is not a fair distribution of resources by the Minister of Education.
"What we would like to see is the Minister pushing such commitment to all of our vulnerable students, and that's the frustration with seeing them make a political response to vulnerable students, rather than what should be done," she said.
"They need this to succeed, because this is a political response to an experiment that was always doomed to fail."
However the Education Minister Hekia Parata believes it wouldn't be fair on the students of Te Pumanawa o te Wairua school to close halfway through the school year.
Another audit of the school will be carried out in October.
