Negotiations over Christchurch's proposed Vanguard Military School will continue into the New Year.
It's unsure whether the school will go ahead under the new Education Minister Chris Hipkins.
Vanguard already has one school in Auckland.
CEO Nick Hyde said the most recent meeting with the Ministry was last week, and they'll continue meeting next year.
The Ministry's Deputy-Secretary of Student Achievement Ellen MacGregor Reid said it's "working to implement the Government's policy to remove the charter school model".
She said "confidential discussions are being held with each charter school about their circumstances and future options".
