A Christchurch man who admitted to filling an Amberley woman's car engine with cement will serve five months home detention.
Peter Casey has been sentenced at the Christchurch District Court on four charges of burglary.
The 52-year-old's committed a string of offences, including stalking the woman by peering through her windows, pouring motor oil in her car's petrol tank, and stuffing a painters rag in her exhaust pipe.
The judge noted Peter Casey's extreme remorse, and acknowledged his willingness to resolve the matter.
Casey has already paid his victim over four-thousand dollars in reparation.
