Revelations hundreds of special needs students aren't getting adequate support for NCEA exams come as no surprise to the union representing high school teachers.
Labour has released figures revealing hundreds of students with learning difficulties at low decile schools are battling through without the help they're entitled to.

The party says new documents show the Education Ministry was pressured by its head to cover up its damning report on the issue.
PPTA President Angela Roberts said vulnerable schools in vulnerable communities don't have a spare penny or minute to support their most at need students.
"There's always an assumption that we've got unlimited time, unlimited expertise. This is a very clear example of how the system's just too stretched to cope with more tasks to help our most vulnerable kids."
She hopes the revelation might spark some action.
"I just hope that we can get past the politics and put the data out there in all its glory and actually use it to really assist the kids as they need it."
