UPDATED 3.51pm:Â The Teachers Council isn't standing down an Auckland charter school principal - or recommending the school does so.
It's confirmed it's received a complaint about James Haggett.
It's understood it relates to an incident at Mr Haggett's former school - St Peter's College - in 2013.
In a statement, the council's acting director Rob McIntosh says they're not taking any action to prevent James Haggett from teaching.
He says there are also no concerns for student safety at Middle School West Auckland, where Mr Haggett is now principal.
Villa Education Trust - the charter school's governing body - has said it would stand down Mr Haggett if the council recommended it.
Alwyn Poole of the Villa Education Trust says it appears Mr Haggett made an administrative blunder.
"It's a confidential complaint and we're not privy to the details, but we've received assurance that's the nature of the complaint."
Alwyn Poole says they went through a robust process in hiring Mr Haggett, and received no indication of the alleged incident.
