More voices are joining the call for an urgent review of University Entrance requirements.
The number of students achieving entrance dropped from 71% in 2013 to just under 60% last year.
Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association President Rick Zwaan says a review is needed of how well high schools are preparing students for university, and how supported they are once they get there.
"And that we're aligning the assessment in terms of how bright the students are, rather than a tick box exercise in terms of have they collected enough credits in particular subjects."
