Dunedin's mayor is stoked about job growth in the city, despite the city loosing its prized Cadbury factory.

LISTEN: Rachel Smalley talks to Dunedin's Mayor, Dave Cull, about Dunedin's 'biggest boom'.

Latest figures show the city's economy gained nearly 15 hundred jobs in the two years to March last year, and the statistics for the whole of 2016 suggest employment growth will continue to flourish.

Mayor Dave Cull told Rachel Smalley the jobs growth is across all sectors - he expects the creative sector to have the biggest growth over the next decade.

"Designers of all kinds, whether its software, whether its fashion, whether its arts and culture, or whether its IT. It's if you like, weightless product."
