Updated 8.34pm: The container terminal at Port Chalmers in Dunedin is closed after a crane toppled over over this afternoon.
The driver of the straddle container carrier was injured in the incident and has is now in hospital.
Port of Otago Chief Executive Geoff Plunket says a full investigation is underway and work has stopped until seven tomorrow morning.
He says the closure won't have any significant impact on shipping services or cargo operations.
The incident has been referred to Worksafe New Zealand.Â
It is unclear why the straddle carrier crane fell over.
