A 27-year-old woman who admitted assaulting and abusing a Muslim woman has been bailed to an Auckland house.

Megan Sarah Louise Walton's performance was caught on video by her victim who was abused after stopping at the public toilets in Huntly at the weekend.

Walton was later arrested and charged and pleaded guilty to behaving in an insulting manner that was likely to cause violence and to two charges of assault to Mehpara Khan near the toilets on Saturday.

She was bailed after appearing in the Hamilton District Court on Monday to reappear in court today to confirm a bail address. Her counsel, Gerard Walsh, also asked for suppression of that property as she had received several threatening messages since the incident. She did have to report to police daily, but that was dropped to twice a week.

A Section 38 psychiatric report has also been ordered.

Judge Kim Saunders agreed to the interim suppression of her address and remanded Walton on further bail to reappear for sentencing.

The charges come about after Walton, from Auckland, assaulted and insulted Khan, 28, who had stopped for a toilet break with friends in Huntly on Saturday on their way back to Auckland.

Walton came out of the toilet intoxicated with two cans of alcohol which she threw at Khan but missed her.

She threw a punch at Khan which she blocked and Khan's friend blocked the second attempted punch.Walton told police she was too intoxicated at the time to remember the incident.
