The Whanganui Collegiate School Headmaster will need to hitch a ride for the next six months.

That's how long 53-year-old Chris Moller will be without his driver's license after being sentenced in court today on a charge of drunk driving.

He's also been fined 750 dollars plus court and medical costs.

Moller had pleaded guilty to excess blood alcohol before appearing in Tokoroa District Court this morning.

On the 21st of October this year, Mr Moller had been driving friends home thinking he was under the limit when he was pulled over for a routine breath check on Liverpool Street in Whanganui.

A subsequent blood test found Mr Moller had a reading of a 106 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
