Synthetic cannabis has been linked to another three deaths - this time in West Auckland.

Although police are moving away from using the term cannabis - saying these concoctions have nothing to do with cannabis.

Police and the chief coroner are again advising people not to gamble with death by smoking the toxic substance.

It comes after the recent deaths of two men aged 22 and 37, and 26-year-old woman.

The coroner's office is also reviewing around 20 cases where synthetic drugs could have been the cause of death.
