UPDATED 5:10PM:Â A post mortem examination on the man killed in an Auckland motel has confirmed he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Ihaia Gillman-Harris was seriously injured at Epsom's Ascot Motel on Saturday, later dying in Auckland Hospital.
Police won't comment on whether they believe the fatal head injury was caused by a weapon, but are continuing to appeal for further information.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard says they've received a lot of information about the identities of two people captured on CCTV, as well as some important background on Mr Gillman-Harris's life.
Anyone who could help detectives is being asked to contact Auckland City Police, or call the anonymous Crimestoppers tip line.
Beard says anyone who's seen a Mazda 262, registration WJ2383, should get in touch.
Two men have been captured on CCTV footage at the motel - and police want to speak to them.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard says they don't know if the two men are known to them, or Mr Gillman-Harris.
He says they need to identify the men, before they know if there are any matters hanging over their heads.
Family shocked over death
The family of a man who died in hospital after suffering injuries at an Auckland motel say they are shocked and are gathering to support each other.
The 54-year-old's nephew, Ihaia Harris, said the family are set to meet within the next few days.
NZME. reports that police are hunting for two men who checked in with Mr Gillman-Harris about 8am on Saturday.
The men were captured on the motel's CCTV system and appear to be younger, wearing baseball caps and hoodies.
Motel issues reassurance
There's been a message of reassurance from a motel where an Auckland man was fatally injured on Saturday.
Spokesman Anuj Gupta says the motel is a safe place in a safe community, and the event is completely out of character for Epsom.
He says staff have had a meeting with the victim's family, and have expressed their sympathies for the death.
