The man charged with attacking a woman at Riverhead Quarry has pleaded not guilty.
The 59-year-old has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Auckland District Court this morning.
Judge Nevin Dawson declined the man application for bail and granted him name suppression until midnight tonight - giving him time to tell his family of his arrest.
He's facing charges of abduction, wounding with intent, and assault with intent to commit sexual violation.
This comes after a 23-year-old woman became separated from her friends on a night out in Ponsonby.
She woke in the Riverhead Quarry - in the early hours of the 26th of February - to see a man standing over her with a bat.
The man will reappear in court in June.
