Residents in Seddon are ready to take policing matters into their own hands, after boy racers covered an intersection in tyre marks.

Aerial photographs show the State Highway one crossroad, notorious for crashes, has had its road markings blacked out by circular skid marks.

Resident Bob Palmer said he's disgusted by the behaviour, and fears lives have been put at risk.

He said he'll be setting up a camera if the police don't step in.

However Marlborough highway patrol team leader Sergeant Barrie Greenall said no formal complaints have been made to police about the latest episode.
