Outdoor clothing store Kathmandu has had its Christchurch store ram-raided overnight.

Police say a vehicle smashed through the glass front door of the Madras St store just after 5am.

"Clothing items were found strewn across the footpath and it's understood some clothing items have been taken," a police spokesman said.

A forensic scene examination is being undertaken today.

"Initial indications are that a white vehicle was driven against the doors of the shop," the spokesman added.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact Christchurch Police on (03) 363 7400, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The new store was only opened in the rebuilding post-earthquake city centre in June this year. Kathmandu's first New Zealand store was launched in Christchurch in 1991.

Earlier this month, thieves ram-raided well-known Christchurch sports store Anderson & Hill Sportspower and stole All Blacks clothing and other branded gear.
