Clever detective work by Queensland police has saved a four-year-old girl in Canada from an alleged child pornographer.

A global search for the victim and accused molester began after Queensland authorities discovered photos of the girl on a Russia-based image sharing website used by pedophiles.

On Wednesday, after they determined the girl was in London, Ontario, Queensland police alerted the London Police Service and they moved quickly to locate the victim.

A search warrant was executed on Thursday at a London residence, a mobile phone and computer devices were seized and a 40-year-old man was arrested, London police said.

He was charged with making and possessing child pornography, voyeurism and making available a voyeuristic recording.

His name was not released to protect the identity of the child.

London Police said the four-year-old was not physically injured and was provided support from victim services and family.
