Police are hoping to piece together what happened during a fatal shooting in the South Auckland of Manurewa.
A post mortem will be conducted on the 32-year-old victim as officers search for 23-year-old Bodi McKee in relation to the killing on Winsford Street at about 7.15am yesterday.
Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum said the victim and McKee knew each other, and were seen talking just before the shooting.
Witnesses told police McKee entered the address where the shooting happened and apologised before leaving.
Paramedics tried for an hour to revive the victim but he was eventually declared dead at the scene.
