Police are hunting for two vehicles after a man was shot in the Auckland suburb of Mt Albert.

The man was wounded after an altercation in Carrington Road shortly before 9am today and taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Police are also looking to locate two vehicles, one possibly a Toyota or Mazda hatchback, which are believed to be linked to the shooting.
