Police have released the video of a brutal assault on a south Auckland dairy owner, in hope the public can help them stop a violent offender.
They're investigating a series of aggravated robberies at dairies and petrol stations across Auckland, believed to be committed by the same man.
The CCTV footage they've released is from an attack last Thursday, where a man entered a Papatoetoe dairy armed with a knife before assaulting the owner.
Police say their decision to release footage of the assault has not been made lightly.
In it, the offender's hoodie has slipped and they're hoping someone will recognise the man's very distinctive tattoos, face and body shape.
