A young Dunedin man is facing court after allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Police were called to Starters Bar in North Dunedin, a popular student hangout last night.
When police arrived at the scene the officer was punched a number of times.
The policeman received a number of minor injuries and is now recovering at home.
