Auckland Police have found the man they were looking for in relation to the death of a 69-year-old man at a block of flats in Western Springs.

The victim's body was found badly beaten in the stairwell of a Housing New Zealand complex on the corner of Ivanhoe Road and Great North Road last night.

Earlier Police released a CCTV image of the man they thought could assist with their enquiries.

The man is 29-years-old and was found by Police in Central Auckland.

Police say he's helping them with enquiries and they can't rule out the possibility of charges being laid.
