UPDATED 9.35AM: Police are searching for a man believed to have slipped his electronically monitored bracelet and gone on the run.

Casey Cowan brings to 19 the number of absconders on the loose.

The 44-year-old removed his bracelet at his Avondale residence just after midday yesterday.

He was sentenced to home detention in March on violence offences.

Police describe Cowan as Maori, of Medium build, standing at 175 centermetres tall,

Police are asking the public to contact them if they have any information on his whereabouts.
