UPDATED 11.09am A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Manurewa on Saturday morning.

Police arrested Bodi McKee without incident in Takanini this morning after a search was conducted for him.

The 32-year-old victim can now be named as Leslie Putt of Manurewa.

Mr Putt was shot in the stomach and died after attempts from paramedics to revive him.

Police say Mr McKee and the victim knew each other and were seen talking just before the shooting.

Witnesses say immediately after shots were fired, Mr McKee apologised to them before leaving.

Mr McKee has also been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and will appear in Manukau District Court today.
