UPDATED 10:40am: Fugitive Phillip Smith is on his way back to New Zealand from Brazil.
The paedophile and kidnapper - who left the country while on temporary release was quickly caught - he's been in jail in Brazil.
He's just boarded a plane from Rio and is on his way to Chile, where he'll be put on a connecting flight to Auckland.

The move follows the decision from the Brazil Federal Court last week ordering deportation within 10 days.
Police say arrangements are in place to manage Smith's arrival back in New Zealand.
The plane is expected to land in New Zealand at 4am tomorrow.
His escape prompted a scathing report from Corrections, released this week.
