Nine people have been charged with kidnapping, and five of them face a manslaughter charge, after the death of Thai woman Jindarat Prutsiriporn who escaped from the boot of a moving car in the Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe in March.
Early this morning, around one hundred police staff and Armed Offenders Squad members executed search warrants across 13 Auckland addresses
Some of those arrested are members of the Head Hunters gang East Auckland chapter, including patched members.
Police say it will be alleged that the motivation behind this kidnapping was drug related, and involved organised crime including members of the Head Hunters gang.
All nine of those arrested will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow.
Police cannot rule out the possibility of further arrests.
