Auckland's Mason Clinic, which treats prisoners with mental health issues, is set to get a few more beds so it can carry out much-needed repair work.
Five of the facility's buildings are leaky - so a new 15 bed unit is being built in the next two years to house displaced patients.
Clinical Director Jeremy Skipworth says it won't just be a temporary unit, as after repairs are done, it'll be used to house Maori patients.
More than half the patients that we have in our service are Maori, so it's important that we do cater to the needs of Maori," he said.
