Two Huntly men who are accused of viciously attacking two police officers with a metal vacuum cleaner pipe have appeared in court.

23-year-old Junior Marsh and 30-year-old Peri Fisher appeared in the Hamilton District Court, charged with two counts each of intent to cause grievous bodily harm after the surprise roadside attack.

The alleged incident occurred at 2:15 yesterday morning when police attempted to stop Fisher's vehicle at a routine police stop.

A short pursuit ensued before the vehicle was pulled over.

While the officers were engaged with Fisher, Marsh is alleged to have grabbed the metal pipe and attacked them from behind.

One of the officers suffered horrific facial injuries, including a broken nose and eye socket, ten days out from his wedding.

Bail was opposed for both men and they will reappear in the Huntly and Hamilton courts on 7th February.
