Waikato Police investigating the rape of a woman in Kihikihi are looking for a man with Mongrel Mob tattoos.

Police say the 26 year old woman was at her Herbert Street home about 8pm on Tuesday when four unknown, armed men appeared at her door.

Acting Detective Sergeant Dean Schrader says the men demanded to know the whereabouts of another woman.

He says threats were made against her and her young daughter before a man wearing a Mongrel Mob vest sexually assaulted her in a bedroom.

The offender also had a bulldog tattoo behind one ear and on his neck.

Police are also looking for the three other offenders.
