The man accused of a triple stabbing in Auckland has been remanded in custody.

Brent Scott is charged with the murder of his ex-wife Heidi Welman-Scott and the attempted murder of her daughter Taryn Welman, and her boyfriend Matija Miletic, in Albany yesterday morning.

Reporter Rob Kidd says Scott appeared in the North Shore District Court wearing blue prison overalls.

"It was a relatively brief appearance.

"He was remanded in custody on the charges of murder and two charges of attempted murder to reappear in the Auckland High Court in about three weeks time."

Brent Scott also faces another charge - but details of that were suppressed by the court.
