UPDATED 12.01pm: A man who's accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a woman out jogging in Whangarei, has appeared in court.
The woman, who's in her twenties, was dragged from the Hatea Loop Walkway, before being driven back to a house early yesterday.
She was later dumped in a central city street, badly injured and traumatised.
A 40-year-old Whangarei man has appeared before a Justice of the Peace at Whangarei District Court.
He's charged with sexual violation, kidnapping with intent to have sexual intercourse and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The man has been granted interim name suppression, and remanded in custody.
He made no application for bail and will be back in court on May 9th.
