Christchurch police are appealing for information after the murder of a woman in Merivale.
A man has been charged with murder and aggravated robbery after a member of the public found the body of the 27-year-old woman yesterday morning.
Detective Inspector Darryl Sweeney says he is interested to hear from any member of the public who noticed any suspicious behaviour around Exeter street, Carton Mill and wider Merivale, overnight Friday and into yesterday morning.
Darryl Sweeney says he will not release the woman's name until he's confident all of her family have been notified.
A post-mortem examination will occur on Monday.
A team of experts will today continue to piece together information, with detectives and forensic specialists examining two scenes in Christchurch – one in Exeter Street and one in Breezes Road.
Two motor vehicles have also been seized for examination.
