Man arrested after Palmerston North assault

A 35-year-old man has been arrested following the serious assault of a woman in Palmerston North, yesterday morning.

The 26-year-old victim arrived home around 10.40am yesterday, to find her house being burgled.

She was then assaulted and suffered facial and skull fractures.

Manawatu acting area commander Inspector Dave White said the man has been charged with burglary, aggravated assault, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in Palmerston North District Court tomorrow.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident and are continuing to support the victim as she recovers.
