The man convicted of killing Blessie Gotingco claims police conspired against him by planting false evidence.
Tony Robertson has denied murdering and raping the Auckland mother of three in May last year.
He's now appealing against his conviction and sentence before the Court of Appeal, which sat at the High Court in Wellington today.
Representing himself, Mr Robertson said a pathologist during the trial misdirected the jury into believing he stabbed Mrs Gotingco when she was conscious because she was found with blood in her lungs.
He also argued police officers planted a knife with Mrs Gotingco's blood at his house, and inflicted two stab wounds into her back to see if she was alive.
The court has reserved its decision.
